Answering to the past: part 4: researching a message from the dead

I went with Charles to the Mansion… Charles let me in their massive library, the secret one below. "I must take my leave of you now Amber. I have to get ready for a date…" Somehow I got the feeling I was lured here just so he would wave the fact he had a date in my face… I guess I deserved it and Charles needed it… I began searching all records… I asked the Library computers to list all references of 1764 Langogne The computer directed laser beam lights to the books that had references to my inquiry; the computer also uploaded several references from the Internet… There… right in front of my face, first on the list… Werewolf: The Beast of Gévaudan… The Beast of Gévaudan came up several times… Of course I remember the story, The Beast was never truly identify… Rumors, Myths and speculations… was it a mere wolf, a dire wolf, a hyena, a lion, Thylacine, a were wolf, or was a human or group of humans doing the killing and using superstition to cover their tracks. Also Cardinal Hermann's hobby…Of course he was a Cryptozoologist… Some think it was a Creodonta or Mesonychid… I remember one thing that stuck out about the Beast… Jean Chastel… he was reading the Bible when the Beast came out and waited for him to finish his prayer…. Rumors, suspicions that he had trained the beast which is why the attacks were so malicious and not typical of animal attacks… "Okay…" I sat back thinking… My cell rang, "Hello?" "Amber, its Guy. Where are you?" His voice was stressed… I sighed, "At Xavier's mansion, I needed to use his Library." "Xavier? As in Charles Xavier? As in your e-boyfriend?" Guy raised his voice… I sighed again, "Guy, you have nothing to worry about. I was worried at first this was an attempt to reconcile with me on Charles part but … He isnt even here, he has a date. I am alone in the basement in a dark large library of the vast antique books and a large computer library. It doesn't have as many of the old books the Temple has but the computer library here is far more advance." "Well at least you are safe there. What have you found?" Guy was troubled… I pulled one of the books from the shelves, "Well, Cardinal Hermann left me a message. 1764 Langogne… which is famous for the Beast of Gévaudan… It seems he knew what the beast that attacked him was, his hobby was Cryptozoology and I know that the Beast of Gévaudan is popular discussion among the scientist because it is theorized that the Beast was a Cryptid…." " Cryptid? As in a mythological creature believes to exist but there is no proof or evidence of their existence; like the lochness, or Bigfoot." Guy asked "Very good, yes…. What I am dealing with must be a Cryptid… how else did Cardinal Hermann know of it or that Charles would sense his mind print…" "Mind print." Guy inquired "Well the Cardinal was dead but this creature left a part of itself behind that preserved his last thought. Like a finger leaving behind a finger print… " I explained "So he made sure his last thought of a story that would be something that would giggle your memory that he was a Cryptozoologist and therefore that the beast that killed him was a Cryptid. " Guy rambled "Sort of…. It isn't just that….
